For All of Your Real Estate Needs, Talk to Scott Bennett, a Telluride Native.

I have spent a lifetime in Telluride! Every season I am reminded why I love it here. I enjoy outdoor activities that each season brings. The Views of the jagged Mountains, the lush meadows and the abundant wildlife never cease to amaze me. As I ride the gondola to work each day, I notice new avalanchechutes and leaves budding or changing colors. I enjoy the summer festivals, community service, the ever-changing faces and especially skiing. Let me share my love for this awesome place with you.

I was brought into this world when Telluride was a declining mining town. I grew up in the days of a funky ski town with the Epoxy sisters and the Fun boys. The hippies of the early seventies became business owners and some of my best teachers and friends. I went to preschool in the Miners union and elementary through High school in a building where the soccer field now sits. I graduated from Telluride High school in 1986 with a class of 13. Then attended Fort Lewis College where I earned a degree in Fine Art with a minor in Engineering. I paid my way through college returning to Telluride each summer to do excavation work and landscaping.

Being raised in Telluride, I have a deep love for skiing. I started skiing in my back yard when I was three or four, then on the mountain with my Uncle Ray, who was one of the original ski patrol, the year the mountain opened in 72. In elementary we were the mogul mice and hiked to Mammoth slide where we were photographed for Powder Magazine. I was coached by Hugh Sawyer and David Glenn, a.k.a. Indian, on the freestyle team in seventh grade. David Stanfield one of the past owners of Paragon Sports and I, were the first snowboarders on the mountain. I didn't stick with that sport because at the time, Snowboarding was not allowed and I was not into hiking. Then in High School, I started racing with a bunch of others that I grew up with skiing together. Jamey Schuler was our coach and now I coach his son Lange. I continued ski racing at Fort Lewis College where I was the co-captain of the Team for Three Years. I have been sharing my passion for skiing as a coach of the Telluride Ski and Snowboard Club, Alpine team since 1992.

For generations, my family has called Telluride home. My great grandparents homesteaded on Iron Springs Mesa in 1913, where they raised my grandma. My mom was born in the local miner's hospital, which is now the Museum. I had the fortune of growing up here, and as the story goes, my life took a pleasant turn when I married Pam Aldasoro. Between us we have three wonderful children Ashley Story 14, who is currently racing on the Telluride Alpine Ski Team, Luke Story 11 who also races and plays great Hockey with a local's team. Our youngest son, Chandler Drew Bennett, who is 4 years old and our grand-finale baby, keeps me enjoying every day. I am excited that I can raise my family in such a wonderful place.

Community service has always been an important part of life in Telluride. Along With Coaching Ski Racing, I am very proud to be one of the four Bennetts to serve on the Volunteer Fire Department. I have been a member of the department since 1994 and a captain for four of those years. I have had one of the best seats for the Fourth of July fireworks with a torch in my hand being part of the crew on firecracker hill. My Dad, Gary, retired from the Fire Department after 25 years of service. He has been on the Town council, Mayor and the Fire Chief. My Mom, Claire has always been very active in the Christ Presbyterian Church. She has been a head angel with the Angel Basket program for the needy during Christmas. My brothers John and Chris are also on the Fire department and have been about ten years each. John is now living in the Mountain Village where he serves as a Council Member and is employed by the Fire District as the fire inspector and training officer. Chris is also an EMT and donates many hours to the local Boy Scout Troop and Elks Lodge. My Sister, Andrea, is also dedicated to community service in the community of Gypsum in early child development.

I returned to Telluride to live year round after graduating from college in 1992. I was given the opportunity to work with the Aldasoro family, whom have been life long family friends. The next 4 years I worked developing the Aldasoro Ranch. My expertise in Telluride Real Estate comes from years of site planning, landscaping, and doing road and utility designs and the installation of them. I was a member of the Aldasoro Ranch Design Review Board for 8 years and chairman for four of them. In the last few years, I have been involved in the Diamond Ranch, and the Golden Ledge, both residential communities on Deep Creek Mesa.

I am very acquainted with properties throughout the Telluride Region. Let me share my love for Telluride with you. I look forward to sharing old time Telluride stories and my family with you and yours.
